Somersett is one of Reno’s premiere master planned communities, located in the New Northwest, and encompassing 3,000 acres of land. With a current build out of 3,700+ homes, the community also includes 27 miles of hiking & biking trails, a 9-hole par-3 walking golf course called the Canyon Nine, and multiple amenity centers for residents, including The Club at Town Center. The $9 million, 24,000 sqft Club at Town Center is a state of the art facility that offers a fitness room, aerobics studio, sports court, locker rooms with saunas, craft room with a kiln, 2 outdoor pools including a 98 ft water slide, 1 seasonal spa and 1 year round spa and 2 tennis courts. Single family detached homes currently start at just over $400k and custom home prices start around $700k and run up to $1.5 million. Custom homesites, where you can bring your own builder, are still available, ranging from quarter acre lots to almost 3.0 acres, and starting at just under $100,000 and on up to over $300,000. Somersett homes were first built in the early 2000’s. The Homeowner Association fees for Somersett vary greatly depending upon the subdivision, ranging from around $156/month to $260/month and cover the common area maintenance and landscaping, and the numerous community amenities.
Schools zoned for the Somersett community are Westergard Elementary, Billinghurst Middle School, and McQueen High School. If you don’t find everything you need within the community, then within 5 minutes of the Somersett entrance gate are Urgent Care facilities, Raley’s Shopping Center @ Robb, and other businesses – providing options for casual dining, entertainment, groceries, gas, shopping, financial services, etc.
The community includes Somersett Golf and Country Club, a private 18-hole championship course, which all residents have community access. Somersett Owners Association oversee this community as well as the three sub-associations for Sierra Canyon, The Village, and The Vue.
Del Webb’s Sierra Canyon is located at the western end of Somersett, approximately 10 miles from the California border. It is a 55+/older community, with homes ranging from 1225sf to 2696sf, and the Homeowner Association monthly dues are $160. Sierra Canyon has all of the features you have come to expect from a Pulte/Del Webb development including a grand clubhouse (The Aspen Lodge) with indoor pool, spa/hot tub and indoor walking track, tennis courts, billiards/game rooms, front lawn landscaping/maintenance, etc. Home prices in Sierra Canyon currently range from the upper $250k’s to over $500k.
